Overview of role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Supply Chain Manager to oversee our order processing and purchasing teams. The successful candidate will have the responsibility for ensuring efficient and effective supply chain operations whilst driving continuous improvement initiatives within these departments.
Key Responsibilities
Based at our facility in Corsham, Wiltshire and reporting to senior management, the Supply Chain Manager’s main responsibilities are as follows:
• Oversee the order processing team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products alongside industry-leading customer service. Optimise transportation routes, and coordinate with third-party logistics providers.
• Lead the purchasing team to ensure the procurement of high-quality materials at competitive prices, whilst developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers together with managing inventory levels.
• Ability to demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities to improve both processes and efficiency across the order processing/logistics and purchasing departments.
• Responsible for recruitment, managing and mentoring the purchasing and order processing teams. The ability to foster a positive and collaborative work environment is a must for our business. Conducting appraisals and providing ongoing training and development.
• Ensuring that effective records are maintained via the company ERP.
• Develop and then manage budgets for each of these departments.
• In tandem with the QC manager, evaluates existing suppliers based on quality, timeliness and cost.
• Stays up to date with UK government import rules in relation to commodity codes and associated customs duty charges.
• Be ahead of the curve in relation to any legislation changes in relation to exporting goods.
• Devise reporting on order processing and purchasing performance to include key metrics and KPIs.
Requirements and qualifications
• Degree in supply chain management, business administration or relevant scientific field is preferred but not essential.
• 2 -3 years’ experience in a similar capacity, preferably in the chemical supplies industry.
• Familiarity with transportation legislation in relation to dangerous goods is preferred.
• Experience with incoterms, tariffs and international trade preferred.
• Experience of using ERP or similar frameworks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with an attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated track record of process improvement and operational excellence.
